OC-ALUM Home Page

NOTE: As of 10/27/03, the list has a new home. Any archives and subscriber info you find here are now out of date. Pretty soon these pages will pretty much disappear.

The new home for the list is at www.asquared.info/mailman/listinfo/oc-alum, and there you will find info about subscribing, list archives, etc.

OC-ALUM is an all-purpose e-mail discussion group for Oberlin College folks -- alumni, students, faculty/staff, friends. It is maintained by Andy Rowan, OC '83. oc-alum actually has no official connection to Oberlin College, i.e. it is not controlled by (nor does it control) the college, does not speak for the college, etc. It's just a group of people who have Oberlin in common. Archived here are copies of the messages.

Currently there are about 125 subscribers to oc-alum, including alums, current students, faculty, and administrators. There are two formats of the list. The default option is for things to be distributed one message at a time, as soon as they come in to the server. For people who prefer not to have so many incoming messages, you can also choose to have the same messages delivered once a day as a "digest" containing all of the day's messages. The content is the same, only the mode of delivery is different.

How to subscribe

There used to also be a separate book discussion group, but it has been discontinued.

What have you been talking about on oc-alum?

The beginnings of an oc-alum photo gallery? Here are some photos that Bob Doolittle took at the 2003 physical reunion of virtual Obies at Paul T's house, and an old one of Bob from a couple of years ago.

V12: These are some pages Bob Doolittle scanned out of the 1944 yearbook, showing the navy folks on campus. First, second, third.

The Pre-microcomputer cultural literacy test:

You are in a little maze of twisty passages, all alike.

You are at the west end of a long hall. There is an empty birdcage nearby. There is an axe here. There is some of Rick Balsano's perl code to the south. Go south.

XYZZY (Hmm. Must be in the wrong room.)
