"Yummy"contains elements of both punk and pop with a little garage-surf thrown in. The whole thing is propelled by lead singer Karen Bradbury's throaty vocals and funny, quasi-riot grrrl lyrics.
"We're too normal and well-adjusted to be punk and too ironic to be purely pop," say Urchins, when asked to describe their band. But jersey beat is more precise: "Great melodies, transcendent vocal presence, and clever songwriting."
"...The Urchins "I'd Like to See You" is without question one of the biggest reaction songs at WHTG thus far this year. Currently a top 5 request album, their debut CD, Yummy is already causing a regional retail rumble in the Garden State."
"...best record:Urchins, "I'd Like To See You b/w "Vodoo Boy." Man, I love this record especially the mutilation folk-rock of the A-side."
...a glammy, jangly, exuberant set... with hit sounding songs.."
"The no-frills guitar/bass/drums lineup, fronted by the smooth, unaffected vocals of Karen Bradbury, is all the Urchins need to present their hooky, four chord progressions."
