In its 35th year, CRSSA continues to have an active research and development program advancing the application of geospatial information science and technology to land use planning, natural resource management, agriculture, and the environment.

New Jersey's Changing Shoreline [VIDEO]: Working with NJADAPT, a collaborative project of Rutgers University in partnership with other academic institutions, local practitioners, and state and federal agencies, CRSSA has developed a new video on New Jersey’s Changing Shoreline. This video describes the dynamics of New Jersey's Atlantic Coast shoreline since the 19th century, using both historical maps as well as satellite image animation from 1984-2012 along NJ's entire Atlantic coast. Sustainable Raritan River Initiative: CRSSA is taking on a new role in co-leading the Sustainable Raritan River Initiative (SRRI). SRRI, a joint program of Rutgers’ Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and the School of Environmental and Biological Science, works with various stakeholders around the Raritan Basin and Bay to balance social, economic and environmental objectives towards the common goal of restoring the Raritan River, its tributaries and its estuary for current and future generations. >> (raritan.rutgers.edu) |

Restoration Explorer: With funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s Coastal Resilience Networks (CRest) Program, CRSSA has teamed with The Nature Conservancy, Stevens Institute of Technology and a number of local partners to develop the Restoration Explorer. This tool is part of Coastal Resilience, an online decision support tool that provides communities with a simple way to visualize where beneficial coastal restoration and enhancements projects are most appropriate based on ecological and engineering data. >> |

Rutgers University and NOAA have developed an online mapping tool to provide land-use planners and emergency managers access to detailed, information about what and who may be in the path of rising sea levels.
